Name : Salma Khatun
Program Officer at Enhancing Youth, Women, and Marginalized Communities through Media Fellowship
| Professional Experience: |
I’ve gained a lot of different experiences that show how much I care about getting better personally and helping my community. For a year and a half each, I worked at Indreni FM and Nepal 1 TV where I reported news and helped with TV shows. I got better at what I do by taking special courses, like learning about computers, writing as a journalist, reporting on important topics, understanding human rights, and ways to make sure news doesn’t harm anyone. I was also part of a program that helps people be more accountable. I spent 2 years at Narayani FM and a year at BTV Birgunj, Parsa. I was also part of important groups, like the Janta Samajwadi Party and Nepal Bhojpuri Samaj, Parsa, where I was Vice President. I was even the Former Deputy Mayor of Pokhariya Municipality. I care a lot about being a leader and learning, which is why I joined the Nepali Emerging Leader’s Program and Media Fellowship Training. I am currently now as the President of Lions Club of Birgunj Central City and working as a Program Officer for Hamro Abhiyan. All these things have helped me make a difference in society and grow as a person.
